An emotional day today for this family.  The final one in the brood is heading off to school for the first time.  We nuture and cherish them and then at some point have to allow them to go and have new experiences to help shape and grow them to their full potential in the big wide world. Its always a privilege to be able to capture special moments in a family's life.  Childhood goes so fast and I felt it this week too as my daughter started secondary school, when only a few years ago I did this very thing with her too.  I think it's worse at this point as they truly are heading off towards independence.  Mum and dad were very brave today although I felt mum's heart breaking for her.  A day of excitement and fear of the unknown all rolled into one, but this wee girl had all the love in the world from her family to send her off to make new friends and learn lots of fun stuff.  Good luck to all the children on their first days of school at whatever stage they are at and for all the teachers too for the year ahead.
